New Orleans, LA (8/28/10) – Today, the Times-Picayune endorsed the Charter amendment that will reform New Orleans recreation. The newspaper joins publications Gambit and City Business in urging voters to vote yes to amend the Article IV and Article V of the Charter to create the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, redefine the functions of the Parks and Parkways Department, eliminate the New Orleans Recreation Department (NORD) and transfer its responsibilities to the new recreation Commission and provide for the powers of the Commission.For more information on the proposed NORD reform that is on the October 2nd ballot, visit www.nordcap.org
