New Orleans, LA – August 13, 2010 – City Council President Arnie Fielkow released a statement about today’s announcement of an economic public private partnership (PPP) for the City of New Orleans. The public private partnership, the NOLA Business Alliance, will join the public and private sectors in a single coordinated effort to grow the business community and deliver new jobs. The City of New Orleans will contribute $1.5 million annually from the Economic Development Fund, while the NOLA Business Alliance will raise a minimum of $500,000 annually from the private sector.
“I am elated that Mayor Landrieu is moving forward with the public private partnership for economic development. The City has so much potential for growth in the business community, and this is the engine that we need to harness that potential and realize our goals of retaining current businesses and attracting new ones to New Orleans. Along with NORD Reform, this PPP has been at the top of my agenda since taking office in 2006, and I am so proud to see it come to life,” said City Council President Arnie Fielkow.
