Council President Fielkow Joins in City Delegation for Final Four

March 31, 2011 – New Orleans, LA - City Council President Arnie Fielkow, along with Courtney Bagneris, Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, and NOPD leaders, will be representing the city today and Friday in Houston at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four in preparation for the 2012 Final Four, which will be held in New Orleans. Fielkow and Bagneris, who are both members of the local Final Four Organizing Committee, will be attending preparation meetings with other host cities and NCAA officials to get ready for next year’s event. Fielkow will be returning to New Orleans on Friday.

“New Orleans is tremendously honored to host the 2012 NCAA Men’s Final Four along with the 2013 NCAA Women’s Final Four. I believe that New Orleans is the best special event city in the United States, as reflected by the fact that we have been chosen to host these two college national championships as well as the 2013 Super Bowl and the 2008 NBA All-Star Game. With an overall economic impact in the hundreds of millions of dollars, these events are fantastic economic generators for the New Orleans area. In addition, they bring immense international attention to our city’s recovery,” said Fielkow.
