COUNCIL PRESIDENT FIELKOW GARNERS
LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
July 11, 2010 – New Orleans, LA – On Saturday, July 10th, New Orleans City Council President Arnie Fielkow was named Legislator of the Year in Orleans Parish by the Alliance for Good Government. Among Councilmember Fielkow’s notable contributions that the Alliance for Good Government values are his work to reform NORD, his promotion of economic development and his support of transparency in all levels of city government.
The Alliance for Good Government was established in 1967 as an organization comprised of concerned citizens from all walks of life and political persuasions who believe in good government for the citizens of the State of Louisiana. Well-known for endorsing candidates that meet their high standards, they aim to guide voters towards leaders that will promote public policies which benefit the State of Louisiana. Council President Fielkow was endorsed by the Alliance for Good Government in both the 2006 and 2010 City Council elections.
“I am touched by this honor. The Alliance for Good Government is an organization that I regard highly for promoting the election of public officials who are dedicated to the common good. As City Council President, I strive to meet their high standards and serve my constituents fairly and with integrity. I would like to thank the Alliance for Good Government, not just for this award, but for all of their hard work to foster good government,” said Council President Fielkow.
“Councilman Fielkow has done an outstanding public service during the last 5 years, a time when our city faced many difficult trials,” said Robert Moffett, President of the Orleans Chapter of the Alliance for Good Government.
